Supporting San Jose Parks, Trails, and Recreation Programs
We need every person who cares about our parks and trails. If you, your friends, your colleagues, your service group, your neighborhood association, your place of worship, your place of work, or any other configuration of volunteers would like to help, we can find a place for you to do some very rewarding work!
Sherman Oaks KaBOOM! Playground Build Day - Friday, May 15
Adopt-A-Park: To protect and enhance San José's neighborhood parks and open spaces by ongoing volunteer support and special events, and to educate San José residents about the importance of parks and open spaces.
Adopt-A-Trail: To protect and enhance San José 's open trails through ongoing volunteer support, and to educate San José residents about the importance if trails.
All volunteer work is accomplished within a few hours time!
This type of programming is gratifying to both parties: the volunteer is able to donate a few hours of volunteer time to the City of San Jose parks and although the time is minimal, the volunteers can see the fruits of their labor and walk away with a great feeling of satisfaction.
The parks department wins because the land is weeded, swept, raked or in some other way enhanced. The park is now cleaner, safer and more appealing to area residents. Everyone is grateful!
Volunteering at a park offers benefits for both the park and the volunteer. Green space is vital to our communities because it offers a place for volunteers to better their community as well as promoting mental well-being by allowing people to get away to nature!
